Imperial-West-is-Imperial-College-London

Imperial West is Imperial College London’s major new campus located in White City, Hammersmith. The development will comprise of nine new buildings, which will provide multi-disciplinary research space for Imperial scientists and engineers.

Laing O’Rourke’s, which is handling the construction, will manufacture building modules offsite to reduce costs and minimise disruption to the busy surrounding area. Medical gases pipework will be installed inside the relevant modules in Laing O’ Rourke’s module manufacturing facility in Oldbury, Birmingham.

Medical Gases is supplying oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, vacuum, compressed air, and a spare gas line within 29 laboratories in Block D. The company has worked closely with Laing O’ Rourke’s design team to provide maximum control of the systems within each laboratory. This has been achieved using a bespoke control panel, which was designed and manufactured by Medical Gases, and a local gas detection and gas supply alarm system.

Pirbright Institute

The Pirbright Institute, formerly known as The Institute of Animal Health, is transforming its Surrey campus to establish itself as the foremost state-of-the-art institute in the world for fundamental and applied research on some of the most devastating viruses of farmed animals.

Phase one of the site redevelopment was to construct a high bio-containment laboratory complex. This second phase includes facilities to support research into poultry diseases.

Having successfully supplied and installed gas systems for phase one, Medical Gases will now supply and install piped distribution for carbon dioxide, a carbon dioxide gas detection system and a piped liquid nitrogen system to an internal dewar filling facility with oxygen depletion alarm system to serve research areas for this second phase.
