Puretech Process Systems is a British engineering company based in London providing pioneering high purity systems worldwide. For over four decades we have created and cared for the delivery of vital purified water, pure steam, high purity gases, medical gases and process systems at medical, pharmaceutical, semiconductor and research facilities throughout the world.
In 1983, Andy Barrett, founder, had the passion, know-how and vision to start Medical Gases Ltd, now UK Gas Technologies. With just an empty office and a telephone, Medical Gases was formed.
Royal Armament Research and Development Establishment – £130k.
Soon after, Microgas Systems was formed to specialise in the delivery of high quality pipework systems within the semiconductor sector.
Our first order came from De Beers Diamond and was worth £500k.
In 1985 Andy Barrett, keeping up to date with the latest technology, purchased a ‘state of the art’ fax machine. The large piece of equipment sat proudly in the office and of course, the company wanted to make good use of it but sadly, at that time, not everyone had a fax machine, but it wasn’t too long before they were a common way of communicating.
1985 seemed to be a year of communication developments and wanting to make sure his business was fully contactable; Andy purchased the latest car phone system. The phone resembled a brick with a rubber antenna and a battery the size of a shoe box. It was so big it had to be installed in the boot, the first of many ‘mobile’ phones…
1988 – Puretech Process Systems Ltd was formed to allow us to focus on the pharmaceutical sector, specialising in clean utility pipework systems, particularly purified water, pure steam and Water for Injection systems.
This year we made the move to new offices in New Addington, Croydon.
UK Gas Technologies formed as a parent company to Medical Gases, Microgas Systems and Puretech Process Systems.
We purchased our first company computer!
It was 1995 when the internal validation department was formed. This meant that we could generate validation documents: VMP, FIQ, FOQ, IQ, OQ and execute validation protocols: FIQ, FOQ. We could also ensure that we were compliant with regulatory bodies and guidelines including MHRA, FDA and cGMP.
We relocated to Aztec House, Redhill which substantially increased both our office space and manufacturing capabilities to a total of 8,000 sq/ft.
£5.5 Million contract with Siemens.
GENESYS™ is the ultimate water purification system. It is a thermal sanitisation multi-technology unit that provides a single source solution for taking softened water to pharmaceutical grade, pure water.
First GENESYS™ order with GE – at the time the biggest company in the world.
In 2010 the business celebrated the formation of a global partnership with the leading pharmaceutical equipment manufacturer in Spain, Telstar.
In 2011, The ArgonØ™ launched. The ArgonØ™ is a world first in point-of-use gas recovery, facilitating cost effective recycling of argon as well as other inert purge gas such as helium and xenon.
The largest overseas order the business has ever received to date was placed by B.Braun in Malaysia worth £5 million.
We became part of the Indutrade group, a £2 billion multi-national company incorporating nearly 250 specialist companies and providing a wealth of resource and financial backing to give customers the stability they demand.
Microgas Systems received its largest contract with Plessey worth £8 million.
Our new >40,000sq/ft state-of-the-art manufacturing facility significantly increases our capacity and has been driven by the demand on our products. Strategically located near Gatwick for seamless accessibility and logistics that improves both responsiveness and delivery times, this new space marks significant advancement for our manufacturing capacity.
Expanding our premises is testament to the growth and development of Puretech and is an exciting time for us as we positively contribute to the progression of UK Manufacturing.
Thank you for your support.
