Our Expertise

Puretech designs, manufactures, installs and commissions high-purity water systems built around Reverse Osmosis (RO), Continuous Electrodeionization (CEDI), with a comprehensive pre-treatment processes. Our systems are engineered for reliability, scalability, and performance in demanding industrial environments.

We support mission-critical operations where water quality is essential for uptime, efficiency, and product integrity.

Pre-Treatment

To protect downstream RO and CEDI systems and ensure consistent performance, Pre-Treatement systems are vital and typically include:

  • Particulate Filtration
Multi-media or cartridge filters remove suspended solids and fine particulates, reducing fouling and maintaining flow rates through the purification process.
  • Softening
Ion-exchange water softeners reduce hardness by removing calcium and magnesium, preventing scale formation on membranes and extending system life.
  • Dechlorination
Activated carbon filtration or chemical dosing (e.g., sodium metabisulphite) is used to remove free chlorine and chloramines, which can degrade RO membranes and permanently damage CEDI modules

These systems are designed and built at our factory in the UK and are based on the local raw water analysis.

Primary Purification: RO & CEDI

  • Reverse Osmosis (RO)
RO uses semi-permeable membranes to remove up to 99% of dissolved salts, organics, and contaminants. It forms the backbone of high-purity water production by significantly reducing conductivity and total dissolved solids (TDS).
  • Continuous Electrodeionization (CEDI)
CEDI polishes the RO permeate by continuously removing residual ions using ion-exchange membranes and electrical current — producing consistent, high-resistivity water without the need for chemical regeneration.

Optional Enhancements

  • Ultraviolet (UV) Disinfection
UV units are often installed post-RO or pre-use to inactivate bacteria and viruses. 254nm germicidal UV provides a non-chemical barrier to microbial contamination, supporting biocontrol in high-purity loops.
  • Ultrafiltration (UF) – Hollow Fibre Technology, our systems can incorporate hollow fibre ultrafiltration modules with a molecular weight cut-off (MWCO) of 10–20 kDa, specifically selected for the removal of endotoxins, bacteria, and colloidal material. This stage is ideal for applications requiring pyrogen control, such as pharmaceutical manufacturing or ultra-pure industrial processes.

Industries We Serve

Semiconductor:

Ultra-pure water (UPW) is essential in the semiconductor sector due to the extreme sensitivity of microelectronic devices to contamination with a focus on the following areas:

  • Cleaning Precision
  • Contamination Control
  • Chemical Stability
  • Compatibility with Cleanroom Standards
  • Critical in Etching and Polishing

Ultra-pure water is not just clean — it’s engineered to be virtually free of all impurities. It’s a foundational component in ensuring the yield, reliability, and performance of advanced semiconductor devices.

Life Science & Laboratory

Purified water plays a crucial role in the laboratory and life science sectors due to its direct impact on the accuracy, reliability, and reproducibility of experimental results.

  • Ensures Accuracy and Consistency
  • Protects Sensitive Equipment
  • Maintains Sterility and Reduces Contamination
  • Supports Reliable Reagent Preparation
  • Critical for Clinical and Diagnostic Applications
  • Essential for Cleaning and Sterilization
  • Regulatory Compliance

Many industries must comply with water quality standards (e.g., ASTM, CLSI, USP, ISO). Use of purified water helps laboratories maintain regulatory and quality standards.

Common Types of Purified Water in Labs:

  • Type I: Ultra-pure, for molecular biology, cell culture, and analytical techniques.
  • Type II: For general laboratory applications.
  • Type III: Used for rinsing or feeding Type I systems.
