Laboratory Water
Puretech offers world leading solutions for laboratory water systems
Working with Evoqua, global leaders in improving water quality, Puretech offers a range of bench top laboratory water systems including Type I, Type II & Type III
Puretech offers small bench mounted units with flow rates from 10 l/hr to 55 l/h for generating vital ultrapure, pure and primary water, offering a range of solutions for all laboratory water applications in hospitals, research facilities and laboratories across the world.
The Evoqua units we supply are easily installed, simply requiring connection to a tap with the flexible hose provided. Commissioning is a simple process and no site visit is required.
Laboratory water (purified water) is generally classified as Type I, Type II and Type III water, based on the purity of water, with Type I water having the highest purity and Type III has the least
Type I water with a resistivity of 18.2 MΩ-cm at 25°C, also referred as ultrapure water, is a requirement for analytical laboratories. Typical applications include flow cytometry, pyrogen sensitive applications, and cell and tissue culture.
Type II water, also known as pure water, is a recommended as a source of pre-treated water to feed Type 1 treatment systems. It is usually recommended for use in buffer preparation for dissolution, microbiology media preparation or sometimes in biochemistry analysers in diagnostic industry and can also be used for the preparation of reagents for chemical analysis.
Type III water, often referred to as instrument feed water, is the lowest grade of lab water. It is produced using Reverse Osmosis (RO) that removes about 90–99% of contaminants. Type III water is recommended for use in glassware washers, humidity chambers and autoclaves.
Specifications for the three grades of water are covered in global guidelines including the International Organization for Standardization American Section of the International Association for Testing Materials Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI), United States Pharmacopeia (USP), European Pharmacopoeia (EP), Japanese Pharmacopoeia (JP) and British Pharmacopoeia (BP). Although these all differ slightly, the Evoqua units supplied by Puretech generate water that complies with all these standards with respect to the levels of conductivity, total organic carbon (TOC) and bacterial levels.
